Daily Habits for a Happy Life

Daily Habits for a Happy Life

Relying on external events and circumstances to feel happy is actually a recipe for unhappiness.
Happiness does not lie in everything being as you planned. This is not about a problem-free life or achieving a certain goal or task (get a higher education, buy an apartment, etc.). It’s about being able to enjoy what you have now, no matter what.
Happiness does not happen by chance, it is a choice. This is a skill that anyone can develop with the right habits. Live the life you deserve.
1. Appreciate more.
Gratitude fuels happiness. It highlights and gives value to what matters in our lives. And the more you appreciate, the more things you will find worthy of appreciation.
Every day when you wake up and go to bed, remind yourself of three things you value in your life.
2. Recharge your batteries every morning.
The morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. Good morning gives you energy and a feeling of being ready to take on the world.
Meditate, do yoga, write a list of everything you love, watch inspiring YouTube videos, or listen to your favorite song before leaving the house. Just get ready for a great day!
3. Practice acceptance.
Things don’t always go according to plan. I used to get upset when plans changed. But resistance changed nothing; instead it just sent me into a downward spiral. When I began to accept everything that happened, I freed myself from unnecessary suffering.
Start practicing acceptance. Adapt to the new situation without fueling it with negative emotions.
4. Live in the moment.
Everything happens here, in the present moment. This is the only place where you can experience happiness (or anything else for that matter). This is the only place worth being.
Whenever you enter a new place, use your five senses—sound, sight, touch, smell, and taste—to find more of the present.
5. Listen carefully.
Listen with focus and compassion. Give people your full attention. It is a powerful source of happiness because it creates strong connections between people and brings you into the present moment.
Whether it’s your coworker, your partner, or a complete stranger on the street, give yourself permission to be more present in all your conversations.
6. Save money to invest in memories.
Material things may satisfy us in the short term, but experiences are what make us happy in the long term.
Buy only what you need. Then use the money you have saved for experiences that will inspire you and make you happy every time you think about them.
7. Meet new people.
Many of us stop making friends after age 25. Make new friends and you will grow as a person and gain new experiences.
Have a friendly conversation with a stranger and you might make a new friend. Maybe it’s for five minutes, or maybe for life.
8. Dream big.
Dreams are good; they move us forward. They enliven our heart, awaken our minds and give us a reason to live. Allow yourself to dream big and believe that it can become a reality for you.
Dedicate at least five minutes every day to living the life of your dreams. Make it as real as possible: visualize and create the feeling that you are, do and have everything you want.
9. Take steps towards your dreams.
Does your present look like the future you dream of? If not, spend more time and energy on what you want to see.
Take small steps every day to get closer to what you want.
10. Develop a mindset of abundance rather than scarcity.
How we perceive the world depends on our perception of it. When you live in need, you protect and hoard. When you give, you signal that you have more than enough for yourself.
Don’t feel like you’re getting enough love? Give love to someone else. Don’t feel like you’re making enough money? Give some to someone in need.
11. Take time to recharge.
Even though we live in a society that encourages us to do more, be more, give more and have more, we need time to recharge. We need to feed ourselves with energy. Take short breaks, and why not take a nap?
12. Be around happy people.
Our emotions are contagious. If someone smiles at you, you are likely to smile back. If someone is rude, then most likely you will want to respond with rudeness. Communicate more with people whose attitude to life you want to capture.
13. Move calmly and confidently.
Faster doesn’t mean better. Busyness does not mean self-realization. Don’t rush through life.
Put all your heart and energy into what you do and focus on that (and that alone).
14. Let go.
Letting go is not always easy, but it is the only way to achieve something new and better to him. When we let go of something, we come to peace of mind. The struggle is over and new ideas and perspectives can begin to open up.
Practice letting go of things that don’t serve you, such as complaining, comparing yourself to others, negativity, past mistakes, or worries about the future.
15. Say goodbye often.
Maybe someone was late, maybe someone was rude, or maybe someone forgot to call you back. Forgiveness does not excuse behavior; it frees you from negativity. It releases resentment and other negative emotions associated with a person or situation.
Develop the habit of forgiving people.
16. Address the real world.
Smartphones, tablets and laptops constantly demand our attention, but the digital world should complement our real life, not the other way around.
So, take the time to be present where you are physically located (updating your Facebook status can wait).
