THE MEANING OF LIFE

The meaning of life depends directly on the processes that are running in life. A meaningful life, life without disappointments, is not possible if it is not in compliance with the fundamentals of Universe. The lack of such compliance results in an endless sequence of conflicts and sufferings. I will describe very briefly the basic process of life – the eternal movement, so that who ever wishes too may comply with it. If we imagine God as an endless sun that spreads its rays everywhere, this energy, based on the enthropy principle, gradually cools down and turns to a rougher matter. Thus level after level, world after world, life is created. In order for this process to be eternal, reverse movement exists – returning matter back to its originator. This returning back is known as “evolution” – a process of eternal perfection: minerals – soil – plants – animals – people – angels – archangels – Gods. When evolution reaches its perfection there is unification with the Perfect One – with the Supreme Absolute.
At present new relationships between individuals are necessary in order for the evolution of mankind to continue. These new relationships can appear only if we change our ability to judge reality – if we replace our pretensions of absolute truths with those that are moderate and admit to the many possible variants in judgment that exist. It is obvious that from evolution point of view all shortcomings are temporary and normal and they cannot be blamed or qualified as good or evil. Good and evil concepts are the motive power of evolution direction. It is absolutely normal for each stage of development to have its own concepts of good and evil. You can imagine the evolution as a yacht that always sails into the wind (evolution forcing a path through the descending energy). In practice a straight and direct motion against the wind is impossible so that’s why tacking is used (zigzag motion). In the same way it is the change in good and evil concepts that results in changes to the course and direction. I will attempt to explain it in a different way. This book has many shortcomings but if it didn’t, nobody would understand it. In order to write it I must have shortcomings myself because if I am perfect I will write a perfect book. Thus when we all realize our shortcomings we thrust back from them and move forward to evolution.
But in order to make this process possible and effective we must stop blaming our shortcomings. When someone cannot cope with his imperfections easily he accepts them and stops working on their elimination. That’s why you must support people in their efforts, not judge them. I can use as an example such famous “villains” like Hitler and Osama Bin Laden. Many clairvoyants find that they have pure aura and they cannot understand how that is possible. Nobody can imagine that their evil deeds could be provoked by the negative attitude of many people to them in some of theirs previous lives. But people always prefer to regard themselves as innocent victims. Now the principle for cause and effect simply balances the accumulated disharmony.
If we make a choice to conform our everyday life to evolution, sooner or later we will note that we cannot have success in eliminating our shortcomings because other people around us are marking time it their evolution. We are all interconnected and we influence each other directly. A certain part of our failure to eliminate our own shortcomings is due to the impact of the shortcomings of the people around us (don’t even think of judging them for that). Also our own shortcomings are obstacles to the development of the people we contact more often. That’s why we must remember that we cannot achieve a significant evolution on our own.
If we want to extend the topic we should pay attention to environment too. For the evolutionary process it is not of less significant than the people around. The harmonic combination of separate components of the environment is one of the favorable elements.
Harmony is defined by correct component combination and by diversity. In order to create a useful and harmonic environment for himself and his closest people a man should consider his own feelings and understandings not just comply with the current fashion. Of course, there are enough sensitive aesthetes and designers who manage to select a friendly environment, to a certain degree, but this will always be an insufficiently effective solution – don’t let your inferiority complexes convince you that other people are professionals and they know what is best to do. Modern society, led by more economic (than evolutionary) interests, has tradition to create a disharmonic living environment. In the first place this is due to too much use of limited types of building materials: concrete, glass, steel, plastics, etc. The result is a very limited energy background, which disturbs the normal energy exchange and impedes the balance. This furthers the unbalanced development, which deviates from the optimum direction and as a result different health problems appear. The second very important element is the energy intensity of the environment. When the disharmony prevails in our everyday life, naturally we are depressed, irritable, aggressive and indifferent to other people problems, etc – we could list all the modern everyday life disadvantages. But if we manage to create a harmonic environment, it turns into a resonator, which increases the very energies we need – it raises our sense of ourselves, we feel enthusiastic, happy, filled with love and compassion. Creation of harmonic environment is impossible with inanimate subjects only – they create a minimum energy background. The more live elements (plants and animals) you include in your environment, and when they enjoy your sympathy and love and they are in harmonic relations with each other, the more they will reciprocate. The energy background will become more intensive, more harmonic and favorable for calm dealing with everyday problems. This optimistic stoicism gradually turns to a constant happiness and high spirits give excellent health. That’s why I always say that if by one or another reason you can’t create enough harmony around you, you must go out into nature more often – the harmony there is natural. Create yourself an active (loving) attitude to the nature and it will reciprocate.
For understanding the meaning of life two more elements of the widened consciousness are significant: deliverance from the illusion that we live only in the material world and from the illusion that it is possible to find a true herald of the truth we could follow. Today the human consciousness is obsessed by the mass illusion that only the material world exists. This illusion limits interest and cares to the material body only – and this determines the moral systems and the everyday efforts of all people. You should get used to the thought that you live simultaneously in several worlds – watch and you will see the differences: your passions are energies of the astral world, your inspiration, creative impulses and spiritual strivings are energies of your soul and spirit. Noticing and considering these differences you will get used to the thought that your body is only a temporary instrument, which matters for a short time only – this new understanding will re-direct your attention to the really valuable things. You will realize that your recent priorities are waste of time and not worth the effort. You will feel like you have woken from a dream and you will look at life from its real side. The realization of this truth will give you an impulse to happiness – these are not exaggerated words – seek and you will find. This is your salvation from the chains of matter.
Here are some of the main changes in the mass human thinking that could give significance to human life to full value. A mass delusion is the expectation that a man could be happy only if he is loved and it is not that important if he loves. The real ‘live to the full’ value is when you love (of course, not only yourself) and even more, when you love unselfishly – and when you love because you expect to get something you will be certainly disappointed.
The right direction cannot be found in the change of the social relations, but only in the change of man himself, when he realizes it as his inner need. If you lack inner harmony you’ll always feel unhappy. Don’t wait for God to fix the world – the world moves according to God’s laws but people, taking advantage of their right for free will, create disharmony and disorder. Because everybody wants what he hasn’t got and is unsatisfied with what he has.
It is impossible firstly to improve life and then for people to get better. Being, doesn’t determine consciousness, consciousness creates being.
It is impossible to find happiness outside of yourself because it is not dependent on external conditions.
It is impossible to find the truth outside of yourself and until other people point it out to you, you won’t be satisfied, because everybody looks at the world from his own “bell tower”.
Do not expect Jesus Christ to come to the world again, look for him inside yourself – only in this way can he come back – when there are people to listen to him, not to shout “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
It is impossible to change man’s life if you don’t change his views. In order to have abundance for everybody the mass human greediness should be decreased – everybody should realize that material possessions don’t make you better, higher or more able. God gave abundance 10 times bigger that all people’s needs but in spite of that we think that it is extremely insignificant. This is because the man who is empty inside tries to compensate by accumulating outer treasures – only in that way can he lie to himself that his life is not empty and meaningless.
These changes cannot happen by force as has happened many times in our recent history – to kill the rich people and steal their treasures. This is meaningless, because other people will take them immediately. Only when the prevailing moral system changes and the spiritual riches become more valuable than the material ones will there be abundance for everyone. That’s why everyone should start firstly with himself – when the prevailing thought-form, which determines the mass consciousness, changes then people finding sense in accumulating material riches will re-orientate and their development will speed up, i.e. they will stop marking time as they do now.
The other illusion – the existence of an absolute truth, also is a very serious obstacle to the next stages of evolution. When defining the meaning of life everyone is trying to borrow from wiser peoples experience and knowledge. But if he encounters contradictions and incomprehensible wording he rejects that knowledge quickly and thoughtlessly as being untrue. And then, as a butterfly flying from one flower to another, he starts to seek for the truth but it always escapes him. I will try to help your search with an example. Imagine that we want to explore a mountain. Let it be a small one – for example Vitosha mountain. Lets divide its map into 10 sections and ask 10 people to describe the mountain. Everyone will describe one and the same thing. Will all the descriptions be the same? Obviously they won’t. You will say that everyone makes a description of a different part of the mountain. Then let the ten people walk the mountain from all sides for a month or two. Will the descriptions be the same? Again – they won’t be the same – one will be impressed by one thing the other by another thing. And if this unsettled state refers to a comparatively small mountain, what would we say for the descriptions of the infinity of life. During human history millions of people have tried to describe what they see and understand. It is natural that these descriptions are not identical; it is natural that they are contradictory, as if the matter is not of one and the same thing, but if you reject these descriptions one by one, would you have a chance to get an idea of infinity? Will a one-sided view give you a more real idea or will you get stuck in illusions? Wouldn’t you have a bigger chance to understand life if you try to combine as many points of view as you can and extract the common things between them, and try not to pay attention to the contradictions of the moment? My advice is: not to reject ‘out of hand’ any single teaching or philosophy! Don’t be afraid of contradictions – gradually everything will take its place, but this is possible only if you don’t reject the different points of view! Go on, sooner or later you will find what you are searching for – but only if you are searching. If you wait for it to fall on you from the heavens – you haven’t a chance.
