Scientists say that the Y chromosome is disappearing

Scientists say that the Y chromosome is disappearing

Scientists say that the Y chromosome is disappearing and people will experience a global sex change

metro.co.uk:  We’ve all been taught that genes X and Y determine sex. Women have a pair of XX chromosomes, and men have an XY pair. But you may not have been taught that the Y chromosome is much smaller, containing only about 55 genes, compared to about 900 on the X chromosome.
All embryos are technically female until about 12 weeks, when a gene on the Y chromosome is activated and male development begins (this is why males have nipples). However, it seems that the Y chromosome was not always so small – and therein lies the problem. The Y chromosome is shrinking, and some scientists fear it may disappear altogether.
One of them, Professor Jenny Graves, explained why this is so in an article for The Conversation, citing the platypus as an example:
“In the platypus, the XY pair is an ordinary pair of chromosomes with two equal members. This suggests that mammals, instead of X and Y, not so long ago had a regular pair of chromosomes. In turn, this would mean that the Y chromosome lost between 900 and 55 active genes over the 166 million years during which humans and platypuses evolved separately. This is the loss of about five genes per million years. At this rate, the last 55 genes will disappear in 11 million years.”
11 million years is very reassuring, but this is only one point of view. Other scientists believe that the lifespan of the Y chromosome may be only a few thousand years, or even several centuries. And as an example, scientists no longer cite the platypus, but some rodents that do not have an XY pair and for a long time scientists had no idea what determines their sex.
It was only in recent decades, after sequencing the genome of rats, that scientists discovered a small difference in chromosome 3 (most of them have a number in their designation), which was present in all males and not in any females. Thus, the desired region (SRY, the sex region of the Y chromosome) was simply moved to another location.
So what does this mean for people? We know that a person needs both a woman’s egg and a man’s sperm to reproduce—one simply doesn’t work without the other. But if there are species that can reproduce without the Y chromosome, it is technically possible for humans.
Professor Jenny Graves writes:
“This discovery of a surprising mode of reproduction in rats supports the alternative possibility that humans may evolve a new sex-determining gene. The evolution of a new sex-determining gene comes with risks. However, what if more than one new system develops in different parts of the world? As a result, a person will have not two, but several possible genders.”
Comment from the Editors of The Big The One: Reading the works of tabloid journalists about genetics is, of course, quite a fun activity, but tabloids in the modern world are a global agenda. The same as, for example, the promotion of gender reassignment. And now there is also a genetic basis for this matter. The third and fourth sexes have not yet been scientifically discovered, but who knows?
Light adherents write about thousands and millions of years, but they are optimists, imagining that no one and nothing controls evolution. However, this is not the case, as hundreds of studies have shown. We will not retell all these monographs, but briefly and in general terms it all boils down to the fact that humans are the only species on Earth that has a lot of extra cells in the brain. What we have works for 2-4%. the rest is dead weight. This does not happen in nature, and all this means that people at a certain stage were soldered so that they would not be very smart.
And since then, corrections have been made regularly. So, in the Dark Middle Ages there was a very short life expectancy, not only among the peasants who plowed from dawn to dusk, but also among the kings, for whom everything was fine with comfort. But rarely did anyone reach the age of 50, and if they did, they looked like a very old man. However, the technologies of the 20th century and higher are already more complicated than a digging stick; a specialist needs to be trained for decades, and in 50 something will come out of him. Therefore, brothers in mind slightly adjusted the life expectancy of trained animals so that they remained active longer.
And the next issue, it seems, is gender correction. It is still difficult to say how quickly and what form it will take, but we are following the development of events.
