Here’s how to respond to a bully

We have all been victims of abuse by others.
Whether it’s a fat joke, a tactless comment, a biting remark or an outright insult, we know how unpleasant it can be. The question is what to do to protect ourselves and leave a good impression, it says “objects”.
Here are 10 ways to get out of such a situation with honor and dignity.:
1. Answer with a question.
The answer with a question is one of the oldest strategies in the world that aims to change the subject. In addition, if you ask the person who has offended you how it is and if there is an accidental bad day, you show concern and at the same time put them at a disadvantage.
2. Say ” thank you!“.
While it sounds strange to respond to a rude comment with “Thank you,” it might actually be a great idea. This is one of the most effective ways to disarm your opponent. For example, someone says to you, ” you sure can’t do it!and you reply with a smile, ” Thank you for your concern!”Try it.
3. Show that you appreciate the concern.
It often happens that people we love comment on our appearance. They think they’re doing it out of Good Will and concern, but they don’t realize that their words can hurt and offend us. Therefore, it is good to have some healthy boundaries that are not crossed. For example, they say, ” this dress looks terrible on you and does not fit your figure at all!and you say, “thank you for the evaluation, but it really isn’t necessary. I like it!“ This is how you show that comments like this hurt you and it’s good to keep your mouth shut.
4. Tell them that their comments do not help you at all.
Constructive criticism is one of the most effective ways to improve your skills. Sometimes, however, people hide their biting remarks in the form of constructive criticism. What to do in this case? Be sure to show that you understand what the other person means, but also make it clear that such remarks do not help you improve your work.
5. Say, ” I appreciate your opinion!“
Honesty is undoubtedly one of the most valuable qualities. However, many people use the phrase, ” I’d rather say it to your eyes!“ to hide a bad upbringing and a little malice. Don’t let them go with that number. Reply: “Thank you for your opinion, I appreciate it!“ and change the subject.
6. Say, ” Okay!“
Do not be offended by insults hidden behind hypocritical-false compliments. It is very likely that the person who says them cannot cope with their own feelings, and this is a way of self-expression. Or he is deliberately trying to hurt you. So just say, ” Okay, okay!”and go on with a smile.
7. Expose them.
“You did a great job with the report. Who helped you?”says your colleague with a smile. A compliment or an intentional insult? Instead of being silent, you can directly ask (with the same smile): “why this judgmental tone?”or” why this mistrust?”without conflict. What was called, was called.
8. Agree.
– You’re too sensitive!
– Of course I am, am I a robot?!
This response is effective when someone tries to shame you for your feelings – you’re too dramatic, you’re too sensitive, you’re too hot, etc.N. Such an answer reminds them that you are aware of your feelings and yourself, which presents you as a confident and emotionally intelligent person who knows what he wants and what he is doing.
9. Be sarcastic.
Even mild sarcasm shows the person opposite you that you choose not to be offended by their toxic negativity. A sarcastic response lets rough people know you’re not an easy target.
10. Ask them to repeat and clarify what they mean.
When someone insults you, you can pretend that you didn’t hear it well or that you didn’t understand it. Politely ask him to repeat. The likelihood of him changing what he said is high because he’ll feel uncomfortable.
