Not what it seems

Not what it seems

Not what it seems: Dr. Myasnikov named six of the most paradoxical products

For example, fatty foods are harmful, but some reduce cholesterol levels. Sweets increase glucose, but certain sweet foods reduce the risk of developing diabetes mellitus. And there are many such paradoxes in the world of nutrition.
Lard
It would seem that this is pure fat. Fat increases cholesterol levels, but due to the content of many amino acids in it – linoleic, linolenic, arachidonic – it increases not only “bad” but also “good” cholesterol. And this is very important, it helps to cleanse blood vessels. In addition, lard is nutritious. In small amounts, it should be in everyone’s diet. The main thing is not to overdo it.
Kefir
Kefir can have both a laxative effect and a strengthening effect. Fresh kefir weakens, and if it has been stored for more than three days, then it becomes more lactic acid, and therefore the effect becomes exactly the opposite.
Chili pepper
The biologically active substance capsaicin contained in the hottest chili pepper, oddly enough, protects against the development of gastritis and ulcers. It seems to train the gastric mucosa and prevents the action of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori and waste products on the stomach wall, which leads to erosions and gastritis. In addition, chili peppers protect against intestinal infections.
Vegetable oil
Surprisingly, the fact is that this product can provoke the appearance of excess weight. It must be remembered that in 100 grams of any vegetable oil there are about a thousand calories. And in butter – half as much.
Pork
It turns out that pork may have fewer calories than chicken. It all depends on which part of the chicken and which part of the pork you eat. The chicken leg is very high in calories, but the breast is by no means. If you take pork, then there are fewer calories in the tenderloin.
Grape
It would seem that a sweet product is the way to diabetes. But in fact, grapes reduce the risk of diabetes in those with borderline sugar. It is the grapes, especially the black ones, and not the grape juice. Biologically active substances contained in grapes prevent the development of insulin resistance, which is the basis of diabetes mellitus.

P.S. Remember: everything has its good and bad sides, not only rare exceptions – the problem is always in the dosage and mental state (fear). Yosif Yorgov
