GOOD AND EVIL

GOOD AND EVIL

This is a universal truth; everybody has his own understanding of good and evil. If a group of people create one organization with common interests very soon they find common language and reach an agreement for what is good and what is evil. If everyone sticks to his own understanding and doesn’t make necessary compromises then the group falls apart despite the wish for this co-operation. For this reason I think that it is very important that the people striving to reach harmonic co-existence to have united concepts.
Good is everything that helps the creation and maintenance of the universal oneness. Evil is everything that destroys this oneness or impedes its creation. Such a perspective for a moral system usually seems strange at first sight – everyone feels his individuality and the right of free choice threatened. This fear comes from the illusion that one can live separately from the other people. And the illusion comes from the lack of knowledge of the multidimensional space and the interaction processes that determine the existence of everything. On the other hand there is accumulated prejudice that a harmonic oneness created by violence is possible. The right for free choice is one of the basic laws in the Universe and if anything is to survive it can only be based on conscious and voluntarily choice, on mutual tolerance and love. Everything that exists will stop existing if it lacks some of these elements – the greater the deficit the shorter the existence of such relatively independent unity. The destruction is to the level, to which the pointed principles are restored.
Following the above logic an impression is created that the biggest source of evil between people is human egoism. This human quality is the main source of disharmony in the lower worlds. The harmony in the world determines the uniform distribution of wealth. But human egoism disturbs this distribution and creates conflicts on Earth. Because of the universal interdependence each disharmony (evil) cause has equal effect. In most cases the effect is not in result of revengefulness, but of ordinary physical law – auto correction of the disharmony. From the energies mastered by people on a mass scale thoughts have the biggest energy potential. And as in most cases injuries caused by ill-will thoughts are not seen people have created the illusion that their thoughts are private and don’t affect others. When they face the consequences at the best they regard them as a coincidence, but usually they regard themselves as victims of somebody’s ill-will. If people have this illusion it is very difficult for them to correct their attitude. That’s why I am trying to make the question clear as much as possible.
In this sense, pride is evil – it comes between individuals and simultaneously limits the possible compromises. The calumny is evil – it spreads the evil. Evil is each division of people based on race, religion, sex, nationality, profession or any other principle. Many people will reply that these existing differences cannot be avoided. Yes, actually, if we regard life as a single time incidental event. However if we consider that if we get rid of these illusions and finally we realize that life is eternal and our existence is an episode of present eternal sequence then things acquire a different sense. Nobody can objectively enough estimate the true value of a specific individual. Life is only a role that everybody accepts in order to make certain changes in themselves. Neither according to intelligence or outside look, social standing, achievements in society or the achievements in a certain field could give an objective idea of the level of development of a specific soul. In most cases undeveloped people, reach the limit of their of their capabilities, look down upon spiritually much older people, whose task is not to show their capabilities, but to work out and perfect qualities in the usual everyday life. Through these reasons my advice is: avoid underestimation of people, treat everybody equally friendly.
Evil is violence of any kind, even when you think that you do it for someone’s good. Violence cannot generate good, it deprives one of a basic right – the right and duty of free and voluntary choice. Even when you have reached your goal and succeeded in enforcing good you have created a much bigger evil by normalising violence as something positive. It is very hard to foresee what will degenerate this impression – even dictators impose dictation because they consider their “good” for better than anyone else’s good.
Evil is an unreal concept for reality – the huge numbers of illusions isolate people more and more. Especially harmful is self-evaluation. The illusory self-overestimation or the inferiority complexes equally impede one to the wake up to the mistakes and the possibilities for their elimination in due time. It is said: “It is more likely for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to reach the Kingdom of God” – don’t believe that it is a matter of material possessions only. Everything that has a high value for you – emotional experiences, knowledge, spiritual and aesthetic achievements – is your wealth that makes you defend it and oppose the others, who do not hold the same values as you. Having a high opinion of yourself sets a prerequisite that you regard people as being inferior, criticize and judge them, and this creates an atmosphere of mutual mistrust and disharmony in personal relations. Evil is the non-conformity to the course of time, the changeability of truths and their relativity.
An illusion that is encountered all the time is that evil can be avoided. People try to avoid all things suspicious, living in fear, thanks to which they become easier victims. All this is as a result of unreal self-evaluation, overestimation of the positive qualities and underestimation of the shortcomings. Thus everyone regards himself almost as an angel and all the rest as devils. The solution of this problem is quite hard because if your philosophic (abstract) thinking is not developed you can’t accept statements like: evil is the best teacher, or, in order to cope with evil you shouldn’t run away, but look into its eyes so that you could learn its strong and weak points. Namely these ideas give rise to the statements that evil should be welcomed with joy – the joy from a new lesson to be learned – isn’t it the meaning of our life. But most people define the meaning of their life in completely different ways and learning turns to be a boring requirement for them.
Often people assume their right for free choice as anarchy, to do whatever they want to do. Nobody wants to take into consideration the fact that most whims are outside suggestions, and the rest are in result of his own values system (his own shortcomings) – the next illusion that his thoughts are only his. The universal oneness, the tidy life and the laws that provide it, do not allow a source of disharmony to enter a harmonic environment – a man that won’t consider the people around him and the rules for harmonic existence. By this reason people cannot become aware of the other worlds except the material one. After consciousness is an energy distributor, the awareness of a higher world is a penetration to it with all the consequences following from that. A better world is only possible for one who has proved that he has accepted and always considers harmonic life rules, the constant without mediators. Universal oneness is impossible without a single-source existence, without reality, not illusory humbleness to the Supreme will and laws. Humbleness is the awareness of the infinite insignificance of the personal Self compared to the Universal organism and until everyone regards himself as more valuable than everything else unity and the usage of the common (unlimited) goods is impossible. That’s why accepting and remembering: the common interests are much more important than the one’s own. This is the way to overcome evil. Suffering is a result of your contribution to disharmony.
“Love your enemies!, “If they slap you on the cheek, offer them the other one.” These are not challenges to develop masochism. This is the only road, the only way to cut the chain of cause and effect. Responding to evil with evil, you only increase it. The illusion is that if you fight evil you could decrease it. Please, give up your fears and try to live with good, even if in the beginning these are only good thoughts. Never forget that nobody is perfect in this world – definitely not you.
